CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (Redwood City, California)

We’re looking for a seasoned engineering and technology leader to help establish and implement the technical strategy for Comet’s digital platform. The engineering team handles multiple aspects of a C++ ad server/ C# backend, Spark/Hadoop clusters, machine learning models, and professional services project servicing the broader parent company. This is a hands-on Engineering leadership role that will report directly to the President/GM.

Duties and responsibilities

● Managing the engineering team, establishing internal communication with other teams, ensuring the team is hitting their goals and products are delivered on time.
● Applying best-practice knowledge to Software Development, DevOps, change management, cloud infrastructure, automation, security, site reliability and speed
● Recruit top engineering talent
● Motivate and inspire your teams to excel in all aspects of engineering
● Set clear goals for each member of the team, both short and long-term, and eliminate obstacles so that nothing prevents them from doing the work
● Translate product roadmap into technical stories
● Ability to scope new projects as brought on by Sales to determine effort and feasibility
● Lead the day by day activities of the team ensuring the achievement of the sprint goals
● Personnel management, reporting, and other team administrative functions
● Triage production issues by redistributing resources and revising priorities
● Extensive experience working with customers on API builds or other technical integrations
● Experience at an online publisher, ad network, ad exchange, ad server, SEM platform, DSP, or another online advertising role
● History of long-standing, consultative client relationships
● Strong quantitative skills and negotiations ability
● Self-starter – able to tackle new clients or territories with little guidance

SOFTWARE ENGINEER (Redwood City, California)

Cox Comet LLC, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises is a digital media services company who is seeking a software engineer to develop an application that enables the ability to discover any performance issue that related to impression traffic and revenue.

The ideal candidate understands the “real time bidding (RTB)” advertising business and enjoys contributing ideas and concepts to enhance existing system.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop the alerting and monitoring system to discover any unusual traffic (like invalid traffic) and revenue impact issue.
  • Complete the ad-hoc request in timely manner; like generate a one-time special report\
  • Proficient in Hadoop, SPARK, Python, MS SQL, SSAS, C++ and C#.
  • Analyze the system performance and identify any potential issue from the log files based on the information from alerting and monitoring system.
  • Provide the support to finance and account team for any ad-hoc request.
  • Act as a product/data expert and point of contact for several cross-functional groups within the organization.


PRODUCT MANAGER (Redwood City, California)

As Product Manager at COMET, you will assist in the creation and communication of the COMET product roadmap. You will gather, document and prioritize requirements from both internal and external customers. The products you will manage will range from internal facing order management tools to programmatic ad serving platforms. You will work closely with internal stakeholders (Sales, Account Management, Ad Operations, and Business Development) as well as technical teams (Engineering, QA, and Tech Ops).This position will also serve as the backup for other product functions, such as internal/external customer service support, client integrations, process improvement, etc.This role will be central in the execution of COMET’s business strategy. Experience in the online advertising industry is highly recommended and a technical background is not required but strongly desired.
